The Rector of Namangan State University, Abdug‘affor Qirg‘izboyev, held a meeting with Professor Nick Megoran of Newcastle University, a leading expert on Central Asia from the United Kingdom, who visited the university.

During the meeting, the Rector introduced the guest to the ongoing reforms at the university and provided detailed information about the efforts aimed at modernizing the education system.

In turn, Professor Nick Megoran expressed his satisfaction with visiting the university and shared his thoughts in Uzbek. He also noted that although he has not visited Namangan region frequently, he has heard about the International Flower Festival held annually in the region and shared his positive impressions.

“I have heard about the flower festival held in Namangan. If possible, I intend to visit it in the future,” he said.

During the meeting, Professor Megoran also emphasized the historical significance of the agreement on the junction point of the state borders between Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, as well as the signing of the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship.

The British scholar paid special attention to the importance of the Fergana Peace Forum held in October 2025 in strengthening trust and good neighborly relations in the region. According to him, due to the joint efforts of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, the Fergana Valley, once considered a “conflict zone,” is now transforming into a key area of stability and opportunity in Central Asia.

At the end of the meeting, Rector Abdug‘affor Qirg‘izboyev expressed his gratitude to Professor Nick Megoran for his visit and presented him with commemorative gifts.
