The first-ever FIFA World Cup match of the Uzbekistan national football team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has become a memorable milestone in the history of the nation's sports. The match between Uzbekistan and Colombia attracted significant attention and was followed with great excitement by the community of Namangan State University, alongside millions of football fans across the country.
This historic match was broadcast live on large screens in all cities and districts of Namangan Region. In particular, representatives of state and public organizations, veterans, and young people gathered at the “Barkamol Avlod” Sports Complex in Namangan under the leadership of Namangan Region Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzoqov to support the national team.
In its World Cup debut, the Uzbekistan national team delivered a достойная and competitive performance against a strong opponent. From the very beginning of the second half, the intensity of the game increased significantly.
In the 59th minute, Abbosbek Fayzullayev found the back of the net, becoming the author of Uzbekistan’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal and leveling the score at 1–1. This historic goal brought immense joy and pride to millions of compatriots.
The match then continued with intense attacks from both sides. However, the outcome was decided in the closing stages of the game. During added time, the Colombian national team scored two more goals, securing a 3–1 victory.
Although the final result may not have met the expectations of supporters, the determination, resilience, and fighting spirit displayed by the Uzbek players won the admiration of millions of fans. Most importantly, the team proved that Uzbekistan is capable of competing on football’s biggest stage.
