Issues of Improving the Activities of Academic Degree Awarding Councils Discussed at Namangan State University

Abdug‘affor Qirg‘izboyev, Rector of Namangan State University, held a meeting with the chairpersons and members of the academic degree awarding councils operating at the university.

During the meeting, the participants thoroughly discussed issues related to the further development of research activities at the university, improving the effectiveness of the academic degree awarding councils, and ensuring openness and transparency in the processes of defending scientific research works.

The meeting also addressed proposals for improving the activities of the academic degree awarding councils in line with modern requirements, enhancing the efficiency of their work, and organizing academic defense procedures in accordance with established regulations.

Particular attention was paid to preventing corruption in the defense of scientific research works, preventing conflicts of interest, and ensuring strict compliance with the principles of legality, objectivity, and transparency at all stages of the process.

The Rector emphasized that creating a favorable and fair academic environment for researchers is one of the university’s key priorities. He stressed that applicants seeking academic degrees must not be subjected to unjustified requirements, artificial obstacles to their research activities, or unnecessary bureaucratic procedures.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening the principles of objectivity, responsibility, and academic integrity alongside high standards and accountability in the activities of academic degree awarding councils. It was emphasized that the quality of scientific research, the practical significance of studies, and the authenticity of research findings should serve as the primary criteria in academic defense procedures.

At the same time, the participants noted the important role of academic degree awarding councils in strengthening the university’s research capacity. The meeting identified priority tasks aimed at ensuring the effective organization of the councils’ activities, supporting talented young scholars and researchers, developing academic schools, and increasing the number of faculty members holding academic degrees and academic titles.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the chairpersons and members of the academic degree awarding councils were given relevant recommendations and assignments to further improve their activities, enhance the quality and effectiveness of academic defense procedures, and make a meaningful contribution to the development of the university’s research potential.
