Uzbekistan National Teams Begin Chess Olympiad with Victories
According to the O‘zbekiston Sadosi media platform, Uzbekistan’s men’s and women’s national chess teams made a successful start at the first round of the 46th Chess Olympiad, which is being held in Samarkand.
The first-round matches took place on September 16, with Uzbekistan’s men’s and women’s national teams, as well as the country’s second and third teams, taking part in the competition.
In the open section, Uzbekistan’s main national team defeated Jamaica 4–0. Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Nodirbek Yakubboev, Shamsiddin Vokhidov, and Mukhiddin Madaminov all won their respective games.
Uzbekistan-2 also secured a victory, defeating Afghanistan 3–1, while Uzbekistan-3 defeated Mali 3.5–0.5.
Uzbekistan’s women’s teams also made a successful start to the tournament. The main national team defeated Trinidad and Tobago, while Uzbekistan-2 beat Togo 3–1 and Uzbekistan-3 defeated Tanzania 4–0.
The 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad is being held in Samarkand from September 15 to 27. A total of 400 teams are participating in the open and women’s sections. The tournament consists of 11 rounds, with the matches being played under the Swiss-system format.
Uzbekistan’s national teams will continue their participation in the upcoming rounds as they compete for strong results at the tournament.
