From October 6 to 11, 2025, Namangan State University hosted an international scientific school dedicated to materials modeling within the framework of the ICTP (International Centre for Theoretical Physics) “Physics Without Frontiers: Uzbekistan” program.
This prestigious scientific school brought together senior undergraduate and master’s students specializing in physics, chemistry, and engineering from Uzbekistan and neighboring countries. Throughout the program, participants gained in-depth knowledge of computational methods based on materials science and quantum mechanics and actively participated in both theoretical and practical sessions.
The closing ceremony of the international school took place today. The event was attended by the Rector of Namangan State University Prof. Abdug’affor Qirg’izboyev, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Zaynobiddinov, as well as foreign professors and representatives of the scientific community.
In his address, Rector Prof. Abdug’affor Qirg’izboyev quoted the words of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev:
“Science is the foundation of progress and the cornerstone of the New Uzbekistan. Supporting scientists and developing scientific schools are among our top priorities.”
He noted that thanks to this consistent state policy, significant initiatives aimed at the advancement of science and the support of young researchers are being implemented across the country. The fact that the ICTP international scientific school “Physics Without Frontiers: Uzbekistan” was held for the first time in Uzbekistan — specifically at Namangan State University — is a vivid reflection of the high trust and recognition of our country’s scientific potential.
The rector also paid tribute to Prof. Abdus Salam, the founder of ICTP and Nobel Laureate in Physics (1979), highlighting the global prestige and contribution of ICTP to the development of modern science.
The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics, awarded for achievements in computational materials science and quantum modeling, once again underlines the relevance and global importance of the theme of this international school.
Among the distinguished foreign guests were Prof. Javad Hashemifar of Isfahan University of Technology and Prof. Mehdi Vaez Allaei of the University of Tehran. Their participation contributed to strengthening scientific cooperation between Uzbekistan and ICTP and created new opportunities for young scientists to exchange experience and knowledge.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Rector Prof. Abdug’affor Qirg’izboyev conferred the title of Honorary Professor of Namangan State University upon Prof. Javad Hashemifar and Prof. Mehdi Vaez Allaei.
During the closing session, participants were awarded certificates, and the outcomes of the scientific school as well as prospects for further collaboration were discussed.
