Initially, only the department of Uzbek linguistics functioned at the faculty. By 1963, the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature was separated from this department. The Department of History and Political Science, which teaches students the basics of Marxism-Leninism, was founded in 1943. The department was originally created in 1943-1963. It was headed by M.Sh. Iskhakov. Since 1963, the department was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Tulkin Turdiev. In 1965-1967 The department was headed by a candidate of historical sciences, associate professor Yu. Rakhmatullaev was a deeply educated person in historical science. For this reason, on his initiative, the department of the foundations of Marxism-Leninism was divided into 2 independent departments: the CPSU and general history and political economy, philosophy. It was from this academic year that the training of historians began at the Namangan Pedagogical Institute. The newly created department of the CPSU and world history in 1967-1978 was headed by Bikmaev Yakub Khasanovich. After his retirement in 1978, he headed the department: Ph.D. Murkhon Khaidarov. Activities of the department in 1977-1984. was aimed at strengthening the field of general history. During the period of leadership of Ya.X. Bikmaev, the Department of History of the USSR was created, headed by F. Gafforov. However, by 1984, both departments were united again, and the Department of the USSR and World History was created. It was headed by the famous scientist Yulchi Kasimov in 1984-1987.

Since the 1986-1987 academic year, teaching in the specialization history at the Namangan Pedagogical Institute was temporarily suspended, and students continued their studies at the Fergana Pedagogical Institute.

By 1990, through the efforts of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Ibragim Yusupov, 25 students were accepted as a historian-sociologist. The direction existed in 1990-1991. as part of the Faculty of History and Philology, in 1991-1992. as part of the Faculty of History and Geography, in 1992-1993. again as part of the Faculty of History and Philology. In 1990, the correspondence department for the specialty of historian and sociologist was also restored. Since 1989, with the assignment of the state status to the Uzbek language, the Department of Old Uzbek language and languages was created at the Faculty of History and Philology under the leadership of Professor Odil Nosirov.

September 1, 1991 became a special memorable day for teachers and students of the Faculty of History. Since on this day our country gained independence, the departments of history of the USSR and general history were united into a single department of the history of the peoples of Uzbekistan. The head of the department was Doctor of Historical Sciences, prof. I. Yusupov, all the teachers working today grew up on the basis of this department.

The development of Namangan State University, like all higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan, was marked by the Decree of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I. A. Karimov. In accordance with the Decree of February 28, 1992, Namangan State University was created on the basis of the Namangan Pedagogical Institute. This high trust placed enormous responsibility on the teaching staff, the staff of the institute, the student body numbering about 6.5 thousand people, and called for selfless service to the progress of our young independent homeland, mastering the secrets of science.

The Faculty of History of Namangan State University became a separate faculty on September 1, 1993, and was transferred to one of the most magnificent buildings in Namangan, the former department of industry and agriculture. During this period, the faculty operated the only department - the department of history of the peoples of Uzbekistan, where 152 students studied. In total, in the 1993-1994 and 1994-1995 academic years, 18 students were admitted to the specialty of Orientalist-historian and Orientalist-Africanist in order to expand the potential of the faculty.

Since the 1994-1995 academic year, the department of general history has been created at the faculty under the leadership of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Sultanmurod Soliev, invited from Tashkent State University (now NUUz).

Since the 1999-2000 academic year, the Department of General History was transformed into the Department of World History (headed by Candidate of Historical Sciences B. Isakov), and from the 2002-2003 academic year an independent department of History of the Fatherland was created (headed by I. Kuzikulov). By 2006, the Department of History of the Fatherland was transformed into the Department of History of Uzbekistan, and the head was Doctor of History, Prof. A. Rasulov. Over these years, the foundations of the modern scientific potential of the department were laid, 9 professor-teachers successfully defended their dissertations.
