In August 1967, the Department of Physical Education was established on the basis of the Faculty of Primary Education Pedagogy of the Namangan Pedagogical Institute. In the first years, 68 professors worked in it, including trainers Yu.T.Zokirov, K.O.Usmanov, T.J.Joraev, B.P.Ten, J.E.Ergashev, U.Ubaydullaev, S.K.Burnasheva, N.T.Marchenko, who served in the republic. At the faculty, they did great work in improving the skills of athletes, increasing the efficiency of their studies, promoting physical education and sports among students. In 1968, in order to further improve sports and wellness activities at the institute, a wellness sports camp was established in the village of "Mamay" of the Yangikurgan district, and now it has become a modern recreation center for university professors and students. In 1978-1979, the sportsmen of the faculty took an honorable 2nd place in volleyball at the Republican Pedagogical Institute Spardakiada held in Samarkand, in 1980-1984, they won the trophy of the "Lochin" sports society in football, the world cup in freestyle wrestling and Winner of the European Championship H.Zangiev, wrestlers R.D.Jioev, N.Dzangov, M.Ahmedov, B.Madrakhimov, A.Kamalov, boxing B.Rahmanov, barbell S.Sirtsov, athletics M.Kandakova are proud of our faculty. . Currently, 35 professors and teachers are working in the department of physical culture. There are 7 candidates of sciences, 9 associate professors and 1 professor.
