The department of “Methods of teaching social sciences and humanities in primary education” is one of the professorial and pedagogical associations operating at Namangan State University since 1956.

In the 42s of the twentieth century, the creation of a higher educational institution for teacher training in Namangan became an important event in the cultural and educational life of our region. The university expanded and developed more and more.

Since 1962, the training of primary school teachers has been carried out at the correspondence department of the institute.

50 full-time students were admitted to it. In subsequent years, the number of students studying part-time increased. In the 1967-1968 academic year, student enrollment at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education in the correspondence department reached 200 people.

In the 1991-1992 academic year, 24 groups of about 700 students studied at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education in the correspondence department. For several years, the Faculty of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education of the correspondence department was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences A. Abdullayev.

From 1976 to 1992, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor D. Eshondadaev effectively worked in this position. In 1992, more than 3,200 qualified primary school personnel were graduated.

In the 1966-1967 academic year, a full-time department was separated from the Faculty of History and Philology into an independent faculty - the Faculty of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education. That year, 50 students were accepted for a 4-year course, who studied only in the specialty “Methodology of Primary Education”. 50 students who entered the 5-year course, in addition to the methods of primary education, received additional specialization in teaching music and fine arts.

A. Munavvarov, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, is one of the graduates of the faculty of those years. M. Yusupov became a professor, B. Oripov and M. Khaitboev became candidates of pedagogical sciences and associate professors. S. Turgunov, A. Sheraliev were awarded the honorary titles of Honored Teacher of Uzbekistan.

In 1966-1969, Doctor of Philology, Professor A. Aliev worked as the dean of the full-time department of the Faculty of Primary Education Methodology, and in 1969-1971, senior teacher Yu. Uzokov.

Since 1980, the department has been included in the Faculty of Philology due to a temporary reduction in student enrollment in the department of pedagogy and methods of primary education. The Faculty of Philology was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor T. Goziboev, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor T. Fayzullaev, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor S. Jamolov.

The Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education has always been one of the leading departments for training highly qualified primary school teachers. In 1960, the department of “Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education” was founded, the head of which was appointed candidate of philological sciences N. Bobokhodjaev. After that, in 1961-1962. Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor S. Jamolov, 1962-1966. Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor S. Polatov, 1966-1968 senior teacher Yu. Uzokov, 1969-1974 , Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor F. Akhmadboeva,

in 1980, the department was reorganized and was headed in 1980-1983 by Associate Professor Bobohodjaev N., in 1983-1997 by Professor Yusupov M., in 1997-2000 by senior lecturer Yusupov N., in 2000-2002 - candidate of pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor B. Sattarov, Candidate of Philological Sciences in 2002-2003, Associate Professor D. Kazokov, Candidate of Psychological Sciences in 2004-2006. A. Rahmonov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences in 2006-2007, Associate Professor M. Nishonov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences in 2007-2011 A. Sobirov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences in 2011-2012, Senior Lecturer Yu. Shaamirova, Candidate in 2012-2013 philological sciences, associate professor M. Hamidova, 2014 candidate of physical and mathematical sciences T. Abdullaev, Inomiddinov A. worked as head of the department in 2014-2016.

In 2016-2017, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences T. Abdullaev, in 2017-2019, candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor B.K. Sattarov, in 2019-2020, candidate of philological sciences, professor M.O. Khamidova, in 2020-2021 years candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Sattarov B.K., in 2021 the department was divided into 2 departments, the first department was called “Methods of teaching social and human sciences in primary education”, he headed it from 2021 to 2024. p.n., associate professor Sattarov B.K., since the 2024 academic year, PhD  Lutfetdinova R.A. has been working as the head of the department.

Currently there are 19 teachers working at the department. Of these, 3 PhD, 1 professor, 2 associate professors and 14 teachers.
