Namangan State University is one of the leading higher education institutions, carrying out the task of training personnel in various fields of education and new areas. In 1995, in accordance with fundamental changes in the economy and economic policy of the state in the first years of independence, the department was given the name of the Department of Geography and Economics
on the initiative of the head of the Department of Geography, Doctor of economic sciences, Professor Olimjon Abdullaev. Over the years, regular training of personnel had begun at Namangan State University in the specialty “Economics”.
Since 1999, the department clearly defined its direction and began to be conducted under the name “National Economy and Market Relations.”
In 2000, one of the works revealing the essence of the country’s economic reforms, the department was named “Economy of sectors and regions.”
In 2004, the Department of Economics was created as a result of the merger of the existing departments of Economy of sectors and regions and Economic Theory of Namangan State University.
In order to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “Strategy for the Development of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026”, since 2023, fundamental changes have occurred in the process of training personnel in the economy of Namangan State University. Similarly, the department “Green Economy and Sustainable Business” was created on
the basis of the Faculty of Economics.
In 1992-2010, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Olimjon Abdullayev, in 2010-2011, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Sodikmirza Abdullayev, in 2012-2017, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Nodirbek Sotvoldiev, in 2017-2019, Candidate of Economic Sciences. Department of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Kamoliddin Sirojiddinov, 2019-2019. In 2020, senior lecturer Khamdam Ibrakhimov, in 2020-2022 candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Ibodulla Soliev, in 2023 candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Kamoliddin Sirojiddinov worked as head of the department. Currently, Ph.D. Bahromjon Urinov works as the head of the Department of Green Economy and Sustainable Business.
The Department of Green Economy and Sustainable Business trains personnel in the areas of Economics (by industry and sectors), Logistics (by area), Financial Management, Accounting and Auditing. Masters of Economics specialists (by industry and sector) and doctoral students in the specialty “Agricultural Economics” are also being trained.
Since the creation of the department, 7 candidates of science, 8 doctors of philosophy (PhD) and 2 doctors of science have successfully defended their dissertations and received academic degrees.
To date, professors and teachers of the department have published more than 30 textbooks, more than 200 teaching aids, more than 1000 scientific articles. In 2004-2007, under an international grant from the UN Educational Development Program, in 2018-2020, 2 practical projects were completed within the framework of state scientific and technical programs.
